Everyone who practices yoga has a story to tell. It could be of physical contentment, of the discovery of breath, how it has shaped our lives, or literally saved our life. We all have stories of transformations and awakenings because yoga is that kind of practice. If we stick with it, it has a way of teaching us how to get in touch with ourselves and move us beyond our initial definition of who we are. I was perhaps a typical rip and tear kind of exerciser. I went hard often coming away bruised or strained from an athletic background that thought stretching was just for yogi’s. Something changed and I wanted to slow and heal.
Little did I know that picking up a Cyndi Lee book at Barnes and Noble and practicing a sun salute in my living room would lead me to a woman who knows her kundalini from Iyengar, tantric from Bikram, that brahmari pranayama is incredibly soothing and that every time I put my hands together for morning meditation, I am grateful. Yoga is freedom and release, it makes me a better person. It’s fun to move through life feeling the affects of yoga move through my body and mind. I am excited, honoured and humbled to share it with you.
