Townie Profiles – Tania

We’re back again with another edition of our Townie Profiles. This week we’re featuring someone we have know since her first practice with us in 2011.

Where do we even begin to say how lucky we are that Tania found our studio? Each encounter we have with Tania is uplifting. Being one of those rare birds that goes to all three of our studios, she is truly someone that we all know and love.

Tania’s infectious smile and joyful attitude make her easy to connect off the mat, and her regular practice in the studio is nothing short of inspirational. Since her debut at Yogatown, she’s logged almost 2,000 hours of yoga at Yogatown – that’s 1927 visits (but who’s counting – right ๐Ÿ˜‰). Tania is well on her way to be in the 2000 visit club! Great work Tania!

With all those visits you might be thinking that we opened a Barrhaven studio just for her (๐Ÿ˜‚)!ย  Over the years, Tania has been bringing new people to share her love of Yogatown and now we’d like to share a little more about her.

Tania shared a little about her time here at the studio:

Why did you start doing yoga?

Actually, it was my (ex) boyfriend who went to a class at Yogatown and he really liked it so he thought it would be something we could do together. Plus my running days were coming to an end due to the wear and tear on my body so I was looking for something else I could do instead of hitting the pavement everyday.

Whatโ€™s the yoga accomplishment youโ€™re most proud of?

So hard to narrow that down to one thing โ€“ the best thing that has come out of my yoga practice besides increased physical strength from head to toe, I would say it’s all the beautiful and amazing friends I have made along the way.

I absolutely love my yoga family!!!!

Why Yogatown?

Easiest question to answer! Because your studio and teachers are the best of the best. I tried various yoga studios in Barrhaven and surrounding areas but nothing compared to the warm family/friendly environment and the most amazing teachers at Yogatown.

The hands on adjustments and massages are something that I truly appreciate and welcome every time I step on my mat. I moan a lot apparently when they give me a massage so the teachers can really tell how much I love it ๐Ÿ˜€!!!!

I feel like Norm from Cheers when I walk into the studio (yes I’m aging myself). I get the best smiles and welcome from all the staff when I walk through the front door!!!!

What does the word Townie mean to you?

We believe that yoga is about so much more than being bendy. What does yoga mean to you and how has it changed since you started?

I’m more patient. I’m able to process stress on a much calmer level instead of feeling overwhelmed. It has taught me that the tough times are going to pass – it is not permanent and it’s just a matter of riding the wave. It has made me more grateful.

Anything else youโ€™d like to add?

I would like to send out my deepest love and gratitude to my teachers/mentors and all the friends that I’ve made along the way โ€“ the yoga retreats โ€“ the laughter shared in the change room and in the hot room โ€“ I always look forward to going to the studio to connect with everyone!!!!
