Integrating Yoga Philosophy
Knowing something for the sake of knowing something only has benefits while playing Trivial Pursuit. Yoga philosophy is only practical if it provides us guidance for living well and helping us navigate the difficulties of life with greater ease and less suffering. This weekend offers you space to work through philosophy, stories, and perspectives on yoga within community for synthesis that’s harder to achieve on our own.
Yoga has a rich history of multiple threads of thought, and contemporary yogis get to draw on all of this history in addition to contemporary theories on yoga. We are lucky to have so much to study!
This course will…
- Have pre-requisite reading so yogis show up ready to dive into informed discussion along four themes
- Your reading will include selections from source texts, including The Bhagavad Gita, as well as commentary and modern scholarship, such as Michael Stone’s work.
- Invigorate your passion for yoga “off the mat”
Expect a weekend of cozy conversation, tea, and occasional movement and meditation breaks to care for your bodymind during our course of study.
